Befrienders For Families (BFF)

Overview

Volunteer Responsibilities:

1) Make an effort to understand and get to know their assigned family better over a 12 -18 month period,

2) Meet the families 2 times a month and complete a simple form after each home visit.

Impact:

1) Build relationships with families and children and be a consistent presence during this transition period

2) Mobilise existing networks & resources to aid the family if there is a need

3) Provide practical support and services for the family Minimum Commitment: 18 months Schedule: Flexible, with a minimum of 1-2 monthly check-ins with the assigned family.

All interested volunteers will be invited to attend a BFF briefing and placement takes approximately 3 months or longer.

Gracehaven Children's Home is a residential home for children and youth aged 7 to 18, and is a place of safety for children and youths who may be victims of abuse, neglect, or require a more structured living environment. The home offers them a safe space to heal, rebuild, and grow—the nurturing environment they so rightfully deserve.
